Dr. Sharlee Climer’s research focuses on combinatorial problems arising in genetics and she has developed models, algorithms, and software which have successfully identified genetic patterns that have been previously overlooked, including a striking genetic anomaly encompassing gephyrin on human chromosome 14, as well as genetic patterns associated with Alzheimer disease, hypertensive heart disease, psoriasis, vitamin D metabolism, and traits exhibited by various plants. She is currently developing a tool to diagnose Alzheimer disease subtypes from plasma proteins and genetic data.
